Succession PDX is a professional fiduciary providing

We serve our clients in the roles of:

Trustee

Agent under Durable Power of Attorney

Talk to anyone who’s handled a deceased relative’s estate, and they’ll likely tell you what a nightmare it was. They probably had to go into the bank several times.  They might have had to sit on hold for hours on end with an investment advisory firm, an insurance company, or the IRS.  On top of all this, they very likely had to handle complaints and demands from other family members, adding to their stress and straining family relationships.  Talk to anyone who's handled an estate, and they'll likely tell you that they wouldn't thank the person who named them to handle it.

That's where Succession PDX comes in as Personal Representative.  When someone passes away, we take care of everything: cleaning out the house, hiring a realtor, tracking down financial assets, paying off final bills and taxes, and working with the lawyer to file all of the required documents with the local Court.  Succession PDX also serves as Trustee of any trusts created when someone passes away.  Whether you are thinking about your own estate planning, or you don't have the time or capacity to take on a parent's estate right now, we are here for you.

Just like serving as a Personal Representative, serving as Trustee of a trust can be a time-consuming, frustrating, and thankless undertaking.  Trustees have multiple duties, including investing the trust assets, filing taxes on behalf of the trust, providing the beneficiaries with regular updates and accountings – and yes, even saying no to their own family members when they ask for money.  Succession PDX brings years of experience tackling these duties with efficiency and professionalism, so that you can focus on other things in life.  Succession PDX serves as Trustee of revocable and irrevocable trusts, special needs trusts, and charitable remainder trusts.

Succession PDX serves as Conservator in situations where someone is legally unable to manage their own financial affairs.  In Oregon, there is a distinction between a Conservatorship, in which the state steps in to protect a person's assets, and a Guardianship, in which the state steps in to protect the person themselves.  Succession PDX ensures that the protected person's assets are handled properly and works with the Court throughout the Conservatorship proceeding, so that you can rest easy knowing your parent or loved one's assets are being managed and monitored appropriately.

Succession PDX does not accept appointments as Guardian or as Health Care Representative.
